Primary Camp

To Parents/Caregivers,

We are very happy to let you all know that our Primary camps to Mylor Adventure Camp are able to go ahead.

The total cost for the camp is $250 per student, we have extended the due date due to the COVID lockdown, all payments are due by Wednesday 11th August . Payments can be paid via the Qkr! App which will also include the consent form that will need to be filled out. Please choose the consent form that corresponds to the camp that your child will attend. If you have a credit due to swimming in your account you are able to use this to pay for a portion of camp. If you wish to do this please contact the Finance Office. Please note: you can pay for the camp by organising an instalment plan at the Finance Office prior to the due date.

If you have not let the classroom teacher know that your child has any dietary requirements, please contact them as soon as possible so that we can update Mylor. If your child needs medication while on camp that they do not normally require at school please contact the school to get a medication agreement form.

If the current COVID restrictions change we will contact you as soon as we receive any information.

Please contact us on 83260900 if you wish to discuss anything relating to camp.

Thank you

Principal Position

Dear parents and caregivers,

It is unfortunate that we are in uncertain times and COVID is changing the way we live our lives. I have therefore made the difficult decision to resign my position as Principal at Pimpala Primary School and my last day will be Monday August 16th, 2021.

There are a range of factors which have been considered in making this decision and returning to be close to my family and other supports in Hobart is a significant aspect in this.  I will have very strong memories of my time at Pimpala and the wonderful people I have met through the school and its community.

Mrs. Belinda Finlay-Smith will be Principal for the remainder of the year and the school will be well placed under her very skilled and respectful leadership.

Kind Regards

Penny Wilde

Principal

Parent Engagement Survey

Dear Parent/Caregiver,

Yesterday you will have received an email from the Department for Education with a link for the Parent Engagement Survey. We value your feedback and request that you complete this survey before Sunday 29 August.

Purpose of the survey

The parent engagement survey measures the level of engagement parents have with their child’s school.

The survey asks families about how they perceive their child’s school, including how well the school:

  • supports their child’s learning and wellbeing
  • communicates with students and families.

Survey results will help us understand:

  • what we are doing well
  • where we can improve
  • what’s important to parents and caregivers.

Completing the survey

The survey will be open for 4 weeks, from Monday 2 August to Sunday 29 August.

The survey is open to parents and caregivers of school-aged children and young people. It takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

The department will use the feedback to help achieve our goal of world-class education in South Australia.

Please see link below for more details.

School Car Park

School Car Park

A reminder that the carparks at Pimpala are for staff only between the hours of 8 -4pm. Many of our staff work flexible hours and rely on being able to park onsite when they arrive. Recently, many of our staff have had to park on the street as their park has been occupied.

If you do not possess a disabled permit, do not park in any of the marked parking bays.  We have a large number of permit holders who also rely on being able to park when necessary.

Please remind your children to use the footpaths adjacent to the staff car parks when entering and exiting school.  We had a very close call this afternoon when a young child walked through the staff car park and was almost run over by a reversing car.

COVID Update July 27 Return to School

COVID-19 Communication 27 July, 2021

Dear parents and caregivers,

Today the Premier announced that schools, preschools and children’s centres will reopen to all students tomorrow (Wednesday 28 July).  As a result, our school will be open.

We will not be offering an alternative home-based learning program unless your child is impacted by SA Health quarantine orders.  OSHC is able to operate as usual, please follow the usual processes for bookings.

The Chief Public Health Officer has advised that despite the hard lockdown being lifted, it does not mean that the risks associated with COVID-19 have passed.  As a result, we will:

  • minimise the number of people coming and going from our site. Wherever possible, please drop and collect your child at the gate and maintain the appropriate 1.5 metre physical distance from other adults. If you must come onto school grounds, you must wear a mask and check in. QR codes are posted at entry points to the school.
  • postpone all school events, excursions and camps for the next week. This does mean that our Swimming and Water Safety program for Years 3-5 next week has been cancelled. We have inquired about rescheduling this for our school but there is no availability at this stage. We will advise if this changes. We are unsure of any decision in relation to camp and will advise as soon as we know.
  • require all staff to wear masks when indoors, on public transport or on school buses. Please note that staff will not have to wear masks while teaching or working directly with students.

Your child might have questions about wearing masks. It is important we continue to follow SA Health advice and your continued cooperation is greatly appreciated as we help students and staff with this necessary change.

Thank you very much for your support during this recent lockdown. We appreciate the uncertainty in relation to many situations and will endeavour to find and communicate answers as soon as we are informed.

We are really looking forward to having your child back at school tomorrow.

Regards,

COVID Lockdown Details for Families

Dear parents and caregivers,

Today the Premier announced a 7-day statewide lockdown starting at 6.00pm tonight (Tuesday 20 July).  Only the children of essential workers and vulnerable children will be able to attend Pimpala Primary School and POSHC.  POSHC will be available for these children for before and after school care.

A skeleton staff will provide supervision but not a learning program for tomorrow. We will be offering a remote learning program from tomorrow and more details will be sent from your classroom teacher via Seesaw. If your child needs to attend school, we will be here for them. All students have been asked to take home books and anything else they need to continue their learning from home.

Three Way Conversations will not proceed in person next week. Alternative arrangements will be made to reschedule these to either an online platform or over the phone, after Tuesday 27 July.  At this stage, we cannot advise on Swimming and Water Safety lessons for Years 3-5 scheduled for Week 3 (August 2 – 6) however if this is cancelled, refunds will be provided.

All South Australians are making sacrifices to ensure our community remains as safe as possible. We appreciate that this is a significant undertaking for all families. Pimpala Primary School staff are here to provide support wherever we can.

Kind Regards,
