Miss Tegan Files' Hot Read is Dragonkeeper by Carole Wilkinson.  Miss Files likes this books because when she was in Year 5 her teacher read it to her and she loved it.  She has the whole series and has read it over ten times.

The book is about an orphan girl who is forced to be a slave and look after one of the last dragons.  She helps it out of a big, dark hole.  She realises she can understand it and speaks to it.  They go on a big adventure to the ocean.

Miss Files' favourite part of the book is that she learns things about dragons that the Chinese people believed.

Miss Files recommends this book for Year 3s and up.  It is a Premier's Reading Challenge book.
